Vendale volleyers improve record to 4-0

Shelley Glenz saw her Verndale Pirates run their volleyball record to 4-0 Tuesday with a 3-0 victory over Hillcrest on the Verndale court.

The Pirates was 25-10, 25-15, 25-21 for their first clean sweep since their season opener Aug. 27 with Parkers Prairie.

Sarah Moenkedick came up with a team-high 15 digs while Shania Glenz added 12 and Hailey Stinar contribued 11. Stinar and Moenkedick came Verndale a balanced setting performance with eight and seven assists respectively. Jordyn Glenz was Verndale's kill leader with eight. Shania Glenz was credited with five kills. Krista Dailey collected four ace serves in the game while Alexys Thompson and Shania Glenz both had three.

The Comets dropped to 0-9.

The Pirates will host a dual with Eagle Valley Monday before traveling to Bertha-Hewitt Thursday. The Pirates are set to compete Saturday in the 10-team Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal Tournament at Ulen.
