Vangie Leaders

Vangie Leaders, 85, a resident of Ormond Beach, Florida, and formerly of Wadena, died Friday, January 17, 2014 at the Florida Hospital Hospice Center.

Vangie was born to James and Anna (Blood) Peterson in Robbinsdale, Minnesota. They later moved to the rural Wadena Area. Vangie graduated from Wadena High School and attended the Minneapolis Business College.

Vangie was united in marriage with Rod Leaders on October 31, 1946 at the Wadena Methodist Church and they raised two children. Her life was busy helping with the family business, sewing, teaching Sunday school and being a Cub Scout Den Mother and Girl Scout leader. She was a lifetime member of the Wadena VFW Auxiliary and was the president from 1994-1996. Longtime members of St John's Lutheran in Wadena, they became members of First United Methodist Church of Ormond Beach when they moved to Florida in 2002.

Vangie was preceded in death by her parents and six brothers and five sisters.

She is survived b her loving husband Rod, her son Walt (Diane) of Sebeka, Minnesota, her daughter Mary (Al) Taylor of Ormond Beach, Florida, four grandchildren, Jim (Tressa) Leaders of Sebeka, Becca Leaders of Gilbert, Minnesota, Lindsey Taylor of Apopka, Florida and Casey Taylor or Orlando, Florida and one great grandchild, Terralyn Leaders; as well as her sister Goldie Friend of Jefferson City, Missouri.

February 8, 2014 at 3:30 PM St John's Lutheran Church in Wadena, Minnesota

Clergy: Pastor Stephen Meltzer

Burial will be in the Jacksonville Veteran's Cemetery, Jacksonville, Florida.
