Vandals go after ... trees?
The Wadena County Sheriff's Office is investigating the theft of full-grown trees from property in Shell River Township.
On Thursday, April 29, the sheriff's office received a complainant of vandalism in section 6 of Shell River Township. The complainant found that someone came onto his property and cut down some pine trees, removed the branches and cut the logs into nine-foot lengths, and left them. It is unknown if the vandals took any other logs when they left. It was determined that this took place either late winter or early this spring. The private property boarders Potlatch land.
The Wadena County Sheriff's Office reminded anyone that going onto Potlatch property that the removal of any property without proper permits is illegal. The sheriff's office said it believes the vandals ventured onto the Potlatch property to gather some logs for personal use and entered onto private property. The private property is where the vandalism took place.
Any one with information on this incident is asked to contact the Wadena County Sheriff's Office at (218) 631-7600.
