The Minnesota State Patrol is reporting that two people are deceased and at least two others seriously injured following a head-on collision of two vehicles near the intersection of Highway 108 and County Road 16 west of Henning Wednesday night. One male, age 34 from Deer Creek and his wife, age 26, were killed in the crash.
Sgt. Jesse Grabow of the state patrol said that two of the deceased couple's children also in the car were of unknown health status as of approximately 9:30 Thursday.
The identities of the deceased couple will be released following notification of family.
Laura J. Smith, 49, Henning, driver of the other car, and Grant D. Smith, 50, her husband, were seriously injured and subsequently taken to St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud. As of about 10:15 Thursday, the Smiths were both listed as being in good condition, the hospital said.
According to the state patrol's website, a Chrysler Cirrus driven by the 34-year-old from Deer Creek was going southbound in the northbound lane when it struck a Ford Excursion driven by Smith, who was unable to avoid the collision. Both cars ended up in the ditch, the website said.
