Two high-risk sex offenders moving to Wadena County
The Wadena County Sheriff's Office and the Verndale Police Department have announced a community notification meeting May 10 from 6-8 p.m. at Verndale School Auditorium, regarding two Level Three registered sex offenders moving to Nimrod and Verndale.
Davis Earl Whitaker, 26, will be moving to the 23000 block of County Road 139 in the Nimrod area. Whitaker was convicted of third degree criminal sexual conduct in 2004. The crime consisted of forced sexual penetration with a 17 year old female, who was an acquaintance to the offender.
James Robert Holtorf, 42, will be moving to the 100 block of Farwell Streer in Verndale. Holtorf was convicted of a second degree criminal sexual conduct in 1993. The crime consisted of forced sexual contact with a 10-year-old female, who was an acquaintance to the offender.
These offenders are not wanted by authorities and have served their sentence imposed on them by the court. The Wadena County Sheriff's Office is releasing this information pursuant to Minnesota Statute 244.052. This statute authorizes law enforcement agencies to inform the public of a sexual or predatory offender's release from prison or a secure treatment facility when the Wadena County Sheriff's Office believes that the release of information will enhance public safety and protection. Community notification meetings are held to alert the community when a level three registered predatory offender indicates he or she will be moving into a neighborhood.
