Diane Pettis saw her Sebeka club notch a pair of victories over Verndale Tuesday in a Park Region Conference showdown at Sebeka.

The Trojans hammered Verndale 8-3 with a 17-hit attack in Game 1. Kendra Stanke tossed a three-hitter in Game 2 for a 3-0 win and a Park Region Conference sweep.

The Trojans bunched their runs in the opener, scoring four times in the fourth and four more times in the seventh. Bridget Martini and Katie Brockpahler both collected two hits. Brett and Carly Brockpahler each drove in a pair of runs.

Heather Hejhal doubled in two runs for the Pirates. Crystal Haskin also doubled.

Stanke had her drop ball working in Game 2 and recorded 12 ground ball outs.

Katie Brockpahler drove in three runs with two hits. Sharle Richter and Jessica Lillquist also collected two safeties.

Hejhal came up with her second double of the day for Verndale.

Jenny Swenson picked up pitching victories in both ends of a Park Region Conference doubleheader last Thursday as they Pirates swept the Panthers.

Swenson, who is taking over the pitching duties of all-stater Nicole Bart this season, struck out six in the first game. Heather Hejhal scored three times, went 3-for-4 at the plate and stole three bases. Brittany Kern, Cheryl Haskin and Jamie Kern also collected doubles.

Jamie Kern led the way for Verndale in Game 2 by collecting a pair of doubles to go along with two runs and two RBIs. Kern had the game-winning hit in the bottom of the seventh when she drove in Brittany Kern to break an 8-all tie.
