The Cardinals took advantage of Wadena-Deer Creek's weak floor shooting Friday to defeat the Wolverines in a Mid-State battle.

"It was a good defensive game, both defenses played physical," WDC head coach Brian Silbernick said.

The Wolverines held a 21-20 halftime lead but the Cards turned the tables by switching to a zone defense in the second half. The Cards went on a six-point scoring spree at the end to clinch the victory.

The Wolverines shot at a 26 percent clip from the field with Kelsi Crawford's 10 points leading the way. Courtney Volkmann and Avery Jackson both netted nine.

The Wolverines were guilty of 23 turnovers while the Cardinals were guilty of just 10.
