Tri-County block party is a first
Tri-County Health Care (TCHC) will be holding a Summer Block Party Tuesday late afternoon in Wadena, and since it is the hospital's first event of this kind, organizers hope a good turnout will compel them to make it a yearly attraction.
The block party takes place 4-8 p.m. in the west parking lot. TCHC received approval to block off a portion of the street from the Wadena City Council in June.
Lisa Reddick, TCHC director of organizational resources, said events include emergency vehicle tours with ambulances, helicopters and police vehicles, bike helmet sizing, backpack fittings, inflatable toys, face painting, balloons, food and music.
She also said since it is the first time TCHC has done the event, they do not know how many people to expect.
TCHC staff members are involved in different aspects of the event.
Allen Smith, emergency response manager, is involved in the emergency vehicle tours.
"We will have one of our ambulances there for our show and tell and walk-through," he said. "It basically shows the type of equipment and level of care that we're able to provide our citizens in Wadena and the Tri-County Hospital service area."
Shelagh Carlson, physical therapy and rehab manager, said her department's involved the bike helmet sizing and backpack fitting events.
Those two events end at 6 p.m.
"The general point is just to have summertime fun and have some people out, and see what kinds of services we have here, and meet some of our providers, and just to get to know everybody," Reddick said.
