Tostenson, Panthers stop Devils

Leeza Tostenson scored a hat trick Tuesday night as Park Rapids trounced Long Prairie-Grey Eagle/Wadena-Deer Creek 8-1 at the Wadena Community Center.

Heather Brostrom iced two goals each for the Panthers. Ashley Thelen and McKenna Brand came up with playmakers. Allie Bade pushed a goal into the net with just one second left on the clock.

"We played a really good game," Park Rapids head coach Chris Albee said. "We were all over them."

The victory helped the Panthers wrap up the Mid-State Conference title for the second straight year.

Halley Maas broke up the shutout by scoring the first goal of the third period for the Blue Devils. Kylee Helling and Cassie Behl were credited with assists.

Sam Gorka and Sarah Holm split time in goal for the Blue Devils and combined for 34 stops. Jessica Gapinski kicked out 13 shots.

The Cardinals received goals from four different players Friday night as they defeated the Blue Devils in Long Prairie.

"This was a hard-fought, fast-paced game from the get-go," LPGE/WDC head coach Jim Conrad said. "The girls played with a lot of grit and determination and didn't give up."

Leah Dykhoff scored both goals for the Blue Devils. Her second goal came in a short-handed situation.

Sam Gorka stopped a whopping 49 shots in the loss.
