Ben Frieler hit paydirt on one- and two-yard runs for the Thunder and Sean Colten found enough running room for a 14-yard scoring scamper. Frieler finished the game with 141 yards on 25 carries.

Logan Meyer led the Wolverines with 50 yards on 14 rushing attempts. The senior back scored WDC's only touchdown of the game in the fourth quarter on a two-yard jaunt.

Jon Dinkel led a good LPGE defensive effort with three interceptions and one fumble recovery.

Jacob Ludovissie and Logan Meyer both had 15 stops in the game and combined for 11 assists. Evan VanErp and Mike Paavola both had eight tackles and seven assists in the game, Paavola also had a sack, forced a fumble and recovered a fumble. Jake Krause recorded seven tackles and nine assists. He matched Paavola with a sack and a fumble recovery. Jake Rud came up with a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, four tackles and two assists.

"I thought we played pretty well defensively," WDC Head Coach Tom VanErp said. "Two of the Thunder TDs came off a short field after our turnover. We need to be more consistent on the offensive side of the ball - move the chains, change field position and score more than eight points. We did a lot of good things offensively, but those good things didn't lead to points."

The Wolverines had been held to 20 points in their last three games. Friday's loss dropped the team to 0-4.

The victory gave the Thunder a 2-2 record at the midway point of the regular season.

VanErp's gridders hit the road Oct. 7 for a game with United North Central.
