Thunder post 80-36 victory over Wolverines

Four Long Prairie-Grey Eagle cagers scored in double figures Tuesday as the Thunder roared past Wadena-Deer Creek 80-36 on the local hardcourt.

Playing their second game in two nights, the Wolverines found themselves trailing the Thunder 48-20 at the midway point.

Travis Bergmann poured in 20 points for the Thunder while Cody Sprenger added 19, Dylan Warner scored 12 and Billy Liebsch netted 11.

Matt Laughlin was the only WDC player to reach double figures with 10 tallies.

The Thunder improved to 9-6 and the Wolverines fell to 4-12.

The Wolverines are slated to host Menahga in a non-conference tilt Tuesday.

Zach Bauck canned 20 points and Charlie Peeters scored 19 as the New York Mills Eagles surged past Wadena-Deer Creek on Monday in a non-conference tilt.

Big Dylan Dumpprope tallied 23 points for the Wolverines before fouling out. Blake Connell tacked up 10 points.

The Eagles broke a seven-game losing streak and improved to 3-11 overall.

The Wolverines, who lost the seventh consecutive game, fell to 4-11.

Three Rangers scored in double figures Jan. 24 as the Crosby-Ironton beat Wadena-Deer Creek in a Mid-State game at Crosby.

Caleb Baker led the Rangers with 17 points while Dan Hudrlik scored 16 and Riley Jacobs netted 11. The Rangers shot 48 percent from the field.

Jared Reinitz paced the Wolverines with 11 points. The Wolverines made 38 percent of their field goals and were a cool 3-of-13 from beyond the 3-point arc.

Four Staples-Motley players also scored in double figures Jan. 22 as the Cardinals won a Mid-State Conference game on the WDC court.

Jordan Wick was high point man for the Cardinals with 17 while Seth Auger brought in 16, Kyle Jansson scored 15 and Jalen Busker canned 12.

WDC's Blake Connell hit seven of his 13 field goal shots and added one trey for 17 points. Dylan Dumpprope made three of four 3-point attempts and added two deuces en route to an 11-point night. Jared Reinitz hit on five of seven free throws and finished the game with 10 points.

The Cards shot a strong 48 percent from the field and outrebounded WDC 28-18.

Doug Haas saw his Wolverines charge back from a 38-24 first half deficit to outscore the Cards 31-30 in the second half. The Wolverines shot 39 percent from the field
