Three Wolverines grab firsts at Walker
Wadena-Deer Creek’s Brody Wangsness, Bridger Pettit and Sutton Lohmiller earned firsts Friday as they led the Wolverines to a third place finish in the Walker-Hackensack-Akeley Invitational.
Wangsness ran a winning 17.18 in the 110 hurdles while Pettit claimed the 800 with a 2:11.74 and Lohmiller tossed the discus 118-9.
Will Eliason gave the Wolverines a runner-up finish in the 3,200 run and the 4x200 relay team turned in a second place time of 1:41.40.
Lohmiller gave the WDC boys their only third place finish when he put the shot 43-8 ¼.
Eliason added points in the 1,600 run by placing fourth with a 4:57.99.
Chris Steward sprinted to a fifth place finish of 25.84 in the 200.
Autumn Jahnke was WDC’s top female finisher with a second place jump of 8-6 in the pole vault.
Hannah Vorderbruggen was a double finisher in the individual events for WDC. Vorderbruggen took fourth in the 800 with a time of 2:43.49 and fifth in the 1,600 with a 5:54.39.
The Wolverines racked up four sixth-place times. Jahnke did the 100 hurdles in 19.55, Briana Malone ran the 300 hurdles in 1:10.24. Tiffany Meeks posted a 2:48.27 in the 800. Liz Peterson went 4-6 in the high jump.
Double winners in the meet were Pequot’s Tyler Tappe and Vanessa Lane. Tappe set the pace in the 100 dash with an 11.46 and cleared the bar at 15 feet in the pole vault. Lane won the 200 and 400 with times of 25.58 and 59.59.
