Theisen turns in state-qualifying performance at Blackberry Ridge

Heather Theisen qualified for the Class AA state golf tournament Wednesday by carding a two-day total of 173 in the Section 6AA tournament at Sartell's Blackberry Ridge.

Theisen made the cut on Tuesday with a 93. She shaved 13 strokes off her first 18 holes on Wednesday land in a three-way playoff.

Paige Hartman was just one stroke off Theisen's pace in Tuesday's first round. McKayla Woods, Jess Rondestvedt and Gabi Ross were also in the hunt for a second day of golf. Woods and Rondestvedt both fired rounds of 95. Ross shot a 97. Jessica Langer shot a 112. The Wolverines placed sixth in team competition with a 377.

Emily Israelson led Staples-Motley to the Section 6AA team championship with a two-day score of 153. The Cardinals shot a combined score of 348 to edge Osakis for the team title by two strokes.
