Theisen tops 1,000-point scoring plateau
Wadena-Deer Creek senior Hope Theisen went over the 1,000-point scoring mark for her career Friday night in a 67-51 loss to Frazee on the WDC court.
Theisen entered the game needing eight points to reach the 1000-point mark. Theisen reached her goal in the first half with a three-point shot at the 4:58 mark. She finished the game with 26 points. Theisen ended the regular season by scoring 128 points in the final five games.
Josi Tappe was high-pointer for the Hornets with 21 points. Kennady Barland and Taylor Tappe put up 15 and 14 points respectively.
Jennifer Craig also reached double figures for WDC with a 12-point night.
Theisen also grabbed 10 of WDC's 31 rebounds and dished out four assists.
The Wolverines ended the regular season with a 4-19 record. Keith Ferris will lead his No. 8-seeded club against No. 1-seeded Hawley in a 7 p.m. South Sub-Section 8AA playoff game Thursday at Hawley.

Hope Theisen dropped in a pair of free throws with 10 seconds remaining Tuesday as the Wolverines clinched non-conference win at Sebeka.
Gracie Lien turned the game into a nail-biter with 24 seconds left when she drew a two-shot foul. Lien missed the front end but made her second shot to pull Sebeka within one, 57-56.
Theisen was fouled by Heidi Olson with 10 seconds left and gave the Wolverines a three-point advantage. Rylie Langer collected the game's final rebound to secure possession for WDC as time expired.
The first half of Tuesday's game favored the Trojans. Sebeka took a 30-25 lead into the halftime locker room.
Sebeka led 45-38 in the second half when the Trojans hit a cold stretch. Rachel Schwartz and Jennifer Craig joined Langer and Theisen in a nine-point spree that put WDC on top 45-38. The Trojans tied the score twice after WDC's run but never regained the lead.
Theisen made nine deuces, two treys and went 9-for-11 at the free throw stripe. Langer canned three treys en route to a 12-point game. Craig dropped in five deuces for a 10-point scoring night.
Theisen also had a superb floor game with 12 teams and seven assists. Langer pulled down six of WDC's 24 boards.
Madison Lake led the Trojans with 12 points while Jordan Lillquist scored 11.
