Theisen shoots rounds of 86, 98 at state
Wadena-Deer Creek's Heather Theisen finished in a tie for 52nd place Wednesday by carding a second round score of 98 in the Class AA state golf tournament at The Ridges of Sand Creek.
Theisen, who was making her first trip in a state golf tournament, shot a two-day total of 184 to tie Breck's Amelia Simonds. She was tied for 30th after the first day of competition with an 86.
"It was a very hilly challenging golf course and Heather was very exhausted the second day," WDC Head Coach Missy Tabery said. "Overall she played great with a couple of bad holes that ballooned her score the second day."
Defending state champ Detroit Lakes won the tournament with a two-day score of 590. Pequot Lakes was second with a 648 team score.
Pequot Lakes' Maggie Heggerston and Detroit Lakes' Kate Smith shot the low rounds of the tournament by bringing in 73s on Tuesday and 70s on Wednesday.
