Theisen earns all-conference cage honors

Wadena-Deer Creek's Hope Theisen has been named to the Mid-State girls' basketball team.

Theisen capped her career by passing the 1,000-point mark in WDC's final regular season game of the season Feb. 28 with Frazee.

Joining the WDC senior were Detroit Lakes' Trisa Hutchinson, Kyley Foster and Shay Nielson; Pequot Lakes' Kayla Miller, Katie White and Vanessa Lane; Staples-Motley's Jaelin Beachy, Mackenzie Holst and Grace Wolhowe; Crosby-Ironton's Shannon Lundgren and Meredith Silgen and Park Rapids' Charity Ridlon.

Janson named MVP of boys' hockey squad

Wes Janson earned Most Valuable Player honors Sunday night as the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines held their boys' hockey banquet.

Janson was joined as a special awards winner by Will Eliason (Most Improved) and Dylan Phillips (Mr. Hustle).

Janson also received Mid-State all-conference goaltender and earned section honorable mention laurels along with Phillips and Mike Behl.

Barthel named all-conference, all-state

Wadena-Deer Creek's Devin Barthel, who earned all-state honors for a sixth place finish in the Class A state wrestling tournament, has also received Mid-State all-conference honors.

Receiving all-conference honorable mention was WDC's Caleb Monson.
