TCH's annual February Festival of Health slated for Feb. 6
The year's biggest health fair in Wadena is coming soon. The 20th annual February Festival of Health is a community-wide health fair to be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 6, at M-State in Wadena.
This free event offers more than 80 exhibits by local businesses and organizations. Each booth provides hands-on learning and an opportunity to become familiar with the many resources available for a family's health, well-being and safety.
Health screenings include blood pressure, body fat analysis, video otoscopy (ears), diabetes blood glucose test and cholesterol testing. All screenings are free, except for the cholesterol test. The Wadena County Soil and Water Conservation District will also be conducting free water testing.
Lunch is available between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. in the cafeteria for a nominal fee. Throughout the day, free entertainment and demonstrations will take place in the cafeteria. They will include dance performances by Wadena-Deer Creek Wee Kix, Tiny Kix, Wee Petites, Mini Kix, and Middle Kix; Tae Kwon Do demonstrations by Mid-Minnesota Tae Kwon Do; caricatures drawn by Doug Curtis; and kid's activities, such as face painting and balloons.
One of the featured events is the Community Baby Shower, sponsored by Tri-County Hospital's Obstetrics Department. More than $200 in prizes will be given away to eligible mothers who've received a special invitation from Tri-County Hospital.
This year's grand prize, "A Evening Out on the Town," includes one-night's stay at the AmericInn in Wadena, a $25 gift certificate at The Uptown restaurant and two movie passes for the Cozy Theatre, compliments of these businesses. The health fair is sponsored by Tri-County Health Care, Tri-County Hospital Foundation, KWAD/KNSP/K106, and M-State, Wadena campus.
