Tax impact for residential, commercial, ag land
As the Nov. 3 special election draws nearer, people in the Wadena-Deer Creek School District have been asking questions and learning how the proposed operating levy will affect them, according to the school administration. Not surprising, one of the most common questions asked is: How will this affect my taxes?
Based on information compiled by Springsted, the school district's financial advisor, three scenarios are presented for agriculture, commercial and residential taxpayers in the school district. All are based on $100,000 taxable market value. This information was compiled by using the tax calculator on WDC's school Web site at www.wdc2155.k12.mn.us. District voters are encouraged to use this tool to calculate how the levy will impact their taxes.
Furthermore, the Minnesota Property Tax Refund will enable many homeowners based on income to receive a significant portion of the tax increase back from the state. Examples of property tax refunds are listed on the school's Web site, or if you'd like a free estimate, contact Terry Tumberg, at (218) 631-1534.
For general questions about the ballot proposals or voting procedures, contact Wadena-Deer Creek School District at (218) 632-2155. If you have questions or would like additional information about the tax calculator, contact Springsted, the school district's financial advisor, and ask to speak with a public education professional at (800) 236-3033 or e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The special election will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 3 at Wadena Memorial Auditorium, 304 Dayton Ave. SW. The polls are open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
