On Saturday, Nov.30 at approximately 1 a.m., Wadena Police responded to a domestic disturbance Saturday. Joshua Edwin Blais, 36, of Alexandria allegedly assaulted his girlfriend by punching her in the face knocking her dentures out of her mouth. Blais then fled the scene.
Officers investigated by interviewing the victim and witnesses and then searched the area for Blais. Later in the morning, at approximately 2:30 a.m., the victim called again stating that she knew where Blais was. Officers responded to that location in an attempt to locate Blais. Officers located Blais in a vehicle near the same area where the assault took place and a pursuit began. Blais took off in his vehicle attempting to escape officers.
Blais eventually came to a stop on the 300 block of South Jefferson St. in Wadena. He smelled of alcohol and was resistant to officers’ commands. Blais was transported to the Wadena County Jail and during the DWI process he became aggressive and had to be tased by officers.
