STORM Camp is coming; projects needed
During the week of July 26, 90 youth and 25 adult staff will participate in the 19th annual Service To Others in Rural Minnesota (STORM) Camp based at Northern Pines Assembly Grounds in Park Rapids.
Over the last 18 years, STORM Campers have volunteered more than 72,000 hours to serve more than 1,000 people reaching communities in a 45 mile radius of Park Rapids, including Ponsford, Lake George, Nevis, Walker, Emmaville, Menahga, Sebeka, Hubbard, Deer Creek, New York Mills, Wadena, Frazee, Detroit Lakes and many places in between.
Work teams consist of five youth between the ages of 13-19 and one adult, and tackle projects including indoor and outdoor painting, yard work, ramp building, indoor and outdoor clean-up, demolition of small structures, wood splitting and stacking, etc.
The group needs approximately 75 full day jobs in the area. If you or someone you know would benefit from the service of STORM Camp, contact the group by calling Ardyth Corbin in Sebeka at (218) 837-5321, or contact the Menahga or Sebeka United Methodist Church at (218) 837-5840.
