Funeral services for Stephanie Ness of Wadena will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Wadena with Jim Stoneman presiding. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Johnson-Schuller Chapel in Wadena and again on Wednesday from 9:30 AM until the time of services at the church. With family at her side, Stephanie passed away at the age of 82 years on Saturday, July 12, 2014, at her home in Wadena.
Stephanie "Stevie" was born on January 15, 1932 to Benjamin and Ena (Holten) Vincent in Duluth, MN and was raised "up on the range" in Coleraine. She graduated valedictorian from Greenway High School in 1949, and later graduated with high honors from the University of Minnesota to become a registered nurse. She met Duane Ness in 1955, when he was in medical school, and they were married on September 15, 1956. They moved to Duluth for his residency and by 1958 they made their home in Wadena. Stephanie was active in Bridge Club, various church activities and raising her family. Stevie was a talented seamstress, truffle-maker and cook, who especially enjoyed traveling extensively throughout the United States and the world with Duane.
Stevie was preceded in death by her parents Ben and Ena; son Eric; brothers Bruce and Dirk Vincent.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, Duane; daughter Cindy of Fridley; and son Paul (Alyssa) of Excelsior; grandchildren Julienne, Noelle, Joseph and Saralynn; along with a host of friends in the community.
The Ness family is especially grateful to Ruth Kalk and Carol VanDam for all their care and support during the past few years of Stevies life.
Burial will be in Wadena Cemetery.
