Kevin Ross has let the scorecards do the talking as his Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines head for the links.

"It's an individual sport," Ross said. "You shoot what you shoot."

Tyler Fix is back to anchor the team after putting together some of WDC's best rounds last year. Fix is a "steady" golfer who could shoot in the low 80s along with teammates Bryan Silvers and Tyler Heinzen.

"The short game is probably their strength," Ross said.

The WDC boys' golf coach has seen his team grow in size with the addition of six New York Mills players. Isaiah Bauck, Nick LeTourneau, Creedan Dunrud, Bryce Pazdernik, Austin Reinke and Jacob Perala.

Rounding out the team will be Duke Harrison, Wade Piper, Matthew Quincer, Jacob Goeden, Nick Torkkola and Sebeka's Michael Wing, who has shown Ross the kind of skill he wants for his varsity.

"He should be in one of the top six spots," Ross said.

The Wolverines will once again have to contend with strong Mid-State rivals Staples-Motley and Pequot Lakes. The Wolverines are moving to Section 8AA where Hawley and Detroit Lakes are regarded as powerhouses.
