Silverado burns, boat saved

The Wadena County Sheriff's Office responded to a vehicle fire approximately two miles south of Sebeka on Sunday, Sept. 25 around 9:10 a.m.

Upon the deputy's arrival, the vehicle was nearly totally engulfed. Sebeka Fire Department responded and the highway was closed down for a short time while the fire was extinguished.

The driver of the 2004 Chevy Silverado, Lawrence Leonard Galles of Aitkin, stated he heard a popping noise under the hood so pulled over to investigate. When he opened his door he noticed smoke coming from under the hood. Galles emptied the contents of the cab and unhooked the boat from the pickup. Galles was not injured.
