It is common to hear that animals are our best friends, or a dog is mans best friend. Joe Ann Mikelson feels this way and is doing something about it.

Twelve years have passed since Joe Ann did her animal shelter fundraiser - a tour of her home which is located at 707 2nd Street SW in Wadena. Back in 2001, Joe Ann said that 150 people stopped by to see over 1,200 lights, two trees and fireplaces. People can see and hear 14 animated decorations. This year will be better than ever since Joe Ann has collected more decorations the past 13 years. Her oldest decoration she has on display is 49 years old.

The animal shelter fundraiser tour of her home will be Saturday, Dec. 28 from 2 to 5 p.m and Sunday, Dec. 29 from 5 to 8 p.m. Coffee will be served and a free will donation of money or pet food will be accepted as you enter the back door of the home.
