Jayme George and his Wadena-Deer Creek Shockers packaged two victories around a loss to Bertha in weekend baseball action.

The Shockers jumped the Vergas Loons 12-3 Friday as Travis George pitched a complete game.

George struck out 11 while walking four and surrendering just five hits.

Jayme George came up with a grand slam for the Shockers and finished the game with four hits and five RBIs.

Jordan Wohlwend set the table by going 3-for-4 and drawing a walk. Wohlwend scored four times.

Casey Johnson and Andrew Dornbusch both scored twice for the Shockers.

The Loons closed the gap to 6-3 with a three-run third but the Shockers answered with four in the fourth.

The Shockers committed only error behind George.

Wohlwend took the hill Saturday at Bertha but the normally reliable hurler was not able to stop the Blazers in a 14-0 loss.

Wohlwend left the game with eight strikeouts to his credit. He gave up eight hits and walked two Bertha batters.

Mike Riewer gave the Blazers six strong innings and allowed just four hits and two walks while fanning four.

Marcus Riewer had a great day at the plate for Bertha with two singles, a double and a triple.

Gannon George came on in the sixth and gave the Shockers a perfect inning with three ground ball outs.

The Shockers roared back Sunday with an 11-2 drubbing of New York Mills.

Jayme George notched the victory by going six innings. George scattered four hits while walking one and fanning three.

George helped his own case by reaching three times and scoring twice. Also scoring a pair of runs were Wohlwend, Travis George and Jamie Nordlund.

Mills starter Brendan Frost had control problems as he walked nine.

Alex Helmeke and Chad Keskitalo both collected hits and RBIs for the Millers.

Justin Sperling came on in the seventh and gave the Shockers three innings of shutout ball.
