A four-run first inning sparked the Wadena-Deer Creek Shockers last Saturday as they notched a 10-7 victory over Fergus Falls at Legion Field.

Travis George went 3-for-5, scored three runs and drove in two for the Shockers.

Jordan Wohlwend, who scored three times without picking up a hit, went all nine innings on the hill for WDC. Wohlwend turned in a gutsy effort as he stayed in the game after being drilled in the shin by a liner in the sixth. The WDC right-hander gave up nine hits and five walks while striking out six. Wohlwend's victory improved his record to 3-0.

The Shockers kept adding runs after their big first inning. They scored a pair in the second, one in the fourth and three in the seventh.

Dan Hammes came up with a clutch two-out, two-run double in the seventh.

WDC's Casey Johnson and Eric Blom both went 2-for-5 in the victory.

Alex Conboy was the only Fergus player to collect two hits. Justin Arneson homered.

The Wolverines were guilty of five errors.

The victory gave the Shockers a 5-1 record while dropping the Hurricanes to 5-2.
