A Memorial Service for Shirley Ann Welde, 74, of Wadena, formerly of St Paul, will be held on Thursday August 7, 2014, from 4:00-6:00 p.m., with a Time of Remembrance at 5:30, at the Johnson-Schuller Chapel in Wadena. Shirley passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on July 26, 2014.
Shirley was born on August 3, 1939. She graduated from Johnson High School in St Paul, MN, and grew up on Maryland Avenue. Shirley met Jacob "Red" Welde on a blind date and were married on August 8, 1959. They shared 54 years together. She worked at Thomson-Reuters (a/k/a West Publishing) over 20 years. They lived on the East Side of St Paul for over 40 years, where they raised their 4 kids. She was a loving and compassionate person, who was always there for her family and friends. She loved fishing, living in the country, reading, watching the MN Twins and her dog Roody. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Preceded in death by her parents, Rosella Nelson and Irv LeVasseur, sister, Darlene Klose and son Michael Todd.
She is survived by her husband, Jacob Welde, children Gregory (SuEllen) Welde, David (Julie) Welde, Jeffrey Welde, and Brenda (Paul) Steen; sister, Mary (Marv) Sauerbrey. She was the grandmother of Jake, Erik, Kayla, Ryan and Nick. Great grandmother to Jonathan, Hayden, and one yet to be born; sister-in-law to Jean Valland; aunt, cousin and friend to many.
Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers.
