Shirley A. Smead, 75, passed away March 15, 2010, at the Sunnyside Care Center in Lake Park, Minn.
Shirley was born Oct. 14, 1934 to John and Annie (Johnson) Anderson in Buffalo, N.D. She was united in marriage with Philo Smead on Sept. 30, 1977, in Wadena. She was a member of the Wadena community for 62 years and was an employee of Tri-County Hospital. She was a member of the VFW, card clubs, and taught Sunday School for many years. In her free time she enjoyed sewing, playing Bingo, working puzzles, reading, and crocheting.
Funeral services were set for 11 a.m. on March 20 at the Johnson Memorial Home chapel in Wadena, with her son, Gary, as officiant. Pallbearers are Ronnie Wichael, Mike Pettit, Leroy Larson, Dean Dunn, Nick Bretz and Jason Larson. Interment is in the Wadena Cemetery in Wadena. Survivors include a son, Gary (Patti) Coson of Novato, Calif.; daughters, Dawn (Michael) Pettit of Dent, Debbie (Leroy) Larson of Lake Park; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Donald Anderson of Oregon; and sister, Audrey Nelson of Moorhead.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Philo; her parents, John and Annie; a brother, John Anderson; a sister, Doris Wichael; nieces, Bev Nelson and Eileen VanCleave; and nephew, Merlin Anderson.
