Shakespeare in the Park auditions in Detroit Lakes
Shakespeare in the Park is back in Detroit Lakes for its fourth year with a production of Romeo and Juliet. The auditions will be May 10, 11 and 12 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at the Historic Holmes Theatre in Detroit Lakes. There are roles for nine men and seven women, ages 16 and up. Performances will again be outdoors in the Detroit Lakes City Park on June 29 and 30 as well as July 1, 6, 7 and 8. Shakespeare in the Park is part of the BTD Community Connections Series.
This 2012 production will have a few changes from the original script. Roles have been altered to support a cast of nine men and seven women. (The original script calls for seventeen men and four women.) Most of the text itself has remained intact, though some cuts have been made to shorten the overall length of the play. This production is expected to run a little more thantwo hours.
Audition pieces will be provided on site, or for pick up at the Holmes Theatre.
Performances are on June 29, 30 and July 1, 6, 7 and 8 in the Detroit Lakes City Park. Friday and Saturday shows begin at 7 p.m., and Sunday performances will be at 4 p.m. All shows are free, though freewill donations will be accepted at intermission.
