Scott Allen Denny, 48, of Kerkhoven, formerly of Verndale, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 10, 2009, in Bartlett Township.
He was born Nov. 16, 1960, to Dale and Shirley (Schwartz) Denny in Wadena. He was a graduate with the class of 1979 at Bertha-Hewitt High School. He was a skilled horseman, managing and training his race horses. His dream was to race "All 4 Shirley," his pacer, named after his mother. During the summer months he would travel to surrounding states giving children pony rides. His children and grandchildren brought great joy to his life.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 14, at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Wadena with the Rev. Donald Wagner officiating. Honorary pallbearers were all of his nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers were his brothers, Randy, Duane, Joey, Danny and Dale, and nephew, Matthew Grewe. Interment will be in the Hewitt Cemetery. Survivors include his companion, Barb Knott of Kerkhoven; father, Dale (Judy) of Verndale; son, Tanner of Audubon; daughters, Jamie Denny (Darin) of Clark, S.D., JoAnn Denny (Drew) of Merrilll, Iowa, and Jadie Denny (Bernie) of Holland, Minn.; eight grandchildren; brothers, Dale (Lori) of Verndale, Duane (Donna) of Atwater, Randy (Lynn) of Grey Eagle, Joey of Hewitt, and Danny of Carlos; and sisters Julie (James) Bartylla of Hewitt, Shelly (Troy) Fuller of Evansville, and Kathy (Tom) Denny of Rosemount.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley, in 2004; his grandparents, Joseph and Bonnie Schwartz, Frank and Hazel Denny, and Ruby Denny; and a nephew.
