Scott Jeffery Burton, 52, of Hewitt, died at his home after battling cancer on March 31, 2010.
Scott was born Nov. 5, 1957 to Lowell and Myrtle (Wright) Burton in Minneapolis. He attended school in Minneapolis. He joined the Marines on Dec. 27, 1974 and was discharged on Dec. 15, 1980. While in the Marines, Scott was awarded a Rifle Marksman Badge, Meritorious Mast and a Good Conduct Medal.
He worked and lived in Minneapolis until he met and married Janice on Oct. 16, 2004. Scott then became a farmer, working together with his wife and family. Scott also worked at Lund Boats. He enjoyed working on the farm. His favorite time of the year was spring; he loved watching calves be born and preparing to do field work. He enjoyed all family get-togethers; visiting and playing with the kids. Scott also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Funeral services for Scott were held Saturday, April 3, at the Iten Funeral Home in Browerville. Interment will be held at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
Survivors include his wife, Janice, mother, Myrtle, brothers, Terry (Kathy) Burton, Bruce (Neva) Burton, Todd (Marie) Burton; step-children, Becky (Adam) Templin, Rachel (Joshua) Peterson, Charles Avery and Sarah Avery; grandchildren, Summer and Hunter Templin, Nathaniel and Jeremiah Peterson; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lowell Burton.
