Bob Schultz was recognized for 50 years of service as a volunteer safety instructor. Schultz was given the award by Greg Oldakowski, Wadena area conservation officer, at a Wadena county-wide ATV safety class held at the Knob Hill Sportsman's Club.

On June 4, Robert Schultz of Verndale received an award from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources for being a volunteer safety instructor for 50 years.

Schultz is still currently instructing the youth of Verndale in firearm safety, snowmobile safety and ATV safety classes.

Schultz also received a watch with the volunteer instructor badge on the face of the watch.
