School bus accident reported near Sebeka
A school bus filled with children and a passenger van collided Dec. 20 around 3:37 p.m. on U.S. Highway 71, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
A report indicated the school bus was headed north, while the van was southbound. The driver of the van attempted to slow down and lost control of the vehicle, striking the left side of the school bus. No one was injured.
The driver of the van left the scene, authorities said, but the van's bumper, complete with license plate, was found by a Minnesota state trooper. The van was found a short time later, abandoned along the side of the road north of Wadena.
The driver of the van, Charles Melvin Ohman, 52, of Menahga, contacted the Wadena County Sheriff's Office, who in turn contacted the State Patrol. Ohman was cited for following a vehicle in front of him too closely.
