Schmitz runs 16:31 time in Bagley Invitational
A 14th place finish by Emma Schmitz marked the highlight of Wadena-Deer Creek's trip to Bagley on Tuesday for the Bagley Invitational.
Schmitz turned in a time of 16:31 on the Bagley course, where she ran a 16:02.10 last October to qualify for her first Class A state meet.
Roseau's Madeline Huglen took top individual honors in the 14-team girls' meet with a time of 15:37, but Warroad won the team title with 73 points. The Wolverines finished 13th with 292 points.
Joining Schmitz in the varsity meet were Brianna Rosenthal, who ran 52nd with an 18:18, Gabi Ross, who ran 82nd with a 19:51, Sydney Greenwaldt, who ran 8th with a 20:09 and Tiffany Meeks, who ran 96th with a 21:24.
Brody Wangsness paced the Wadena-Deer Creek boys' team with a 71st place time of 19:53. Tristin Godel was four places behind Wangsness with a 20:09. Konnor Stueve came up with a 21:24 for 91st place. Finishing 107th was Adam Leverson with a 22:55. Joseph Najjar placed 113th with a 24:31.
The Wolverines placed 14th in the 16-team meet with 413 points. Bemidji won the team title with 54 points. Bemidji's Sam Carlson set the pace for all runners with a 16:29.
