Sandra Jean Killian

Sandra Jean (Plautz) Killian, 58, passed away Nov. 24, 2009, while en route to the St. Cloud Hospital.

She was born to Louis and Leota (Schroedl) Plautz on March 21, 1951 in Wadena. After graduating from Wadena Senior High School, Sandra enrolled in the LPN program in Fergus Falls. She returned to Wadena where she worked at Tri-County Hospital for 31 years until failing health forced her to retire. On Jan. 23, 1971 Sandra was united in marriage to Samuel Warren Killian in Nampa, Idaho. They made their home in Wadena and were the proud parents of two sons. Samuel passed away on Sept. 13, 1989.

Sandy was a life long member of the Wadena community. She was a member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary and the St. Ann's Church Circle. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, whether it be a good game of cards, hours in the fishing boat, stories around the campfire or an evening at the casino. Sandy especially enjoyed the time she shared with her grandchildren. She hardly ever missed an event and was the proudest hockey grandma.

The Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, Nov. 28 in the St. Ann's Catholic Church in Wadena with the Rev. Donald Wagner as celebrant. Honorary pallbearers included everyone who loved her. Active pallbearers were Michael Murphy, Chris Plautz, Cody Yglesias, Robert Kasper, Brody Yglesias and Travis Pingree. Burial took place in the Calvary Cemetery in Wadena. Arrangements were with the Johnson Memorial Home in Wadena (www.johnsonmemorialhome.com).

Survivors include her sons, Yad (Amy) and Shawn, both of Wadena; three grandchildren, Samantha, Drew and Nolan; brother, George of St. Cloud; sisters, Mary Murphy, Brenda (Gary) Kasper and Debbie (Rudy) Yglesias, all of Wadena, and Diane (Lowell) Pingree of Coon Rapids, Minn.; brothers-in-law Charles and Elmer Killian; and sisters-in-law Karen Yungbauer and Sandra Enyart.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel; and her parents.
