Salvation Army seeks volunteers for bell ringing
The Wadena unit of the Salvation Army is seeking bell ringers for this Christmas season.
"If anybody wants to ring a bell, give me a call," said Karen Stalberger, the kettle campaign co-coordinator. Her number is 218-371-5450. Campaign co-coordinator Lynn Nesland can be reached at 218-639-8842.
This year, the bells will ring at Wadena's Walmart and Super One Foods locations, and there is a countertop donation spot at the Holiday station. Stalberger said she's considering adding other locations.
Money raised during the campaign goes to a range of causes, including paying for back-to-school supplies for kids, help during community emergencies and for "just about anything that's needed for people that kind of fall through the cracks," said Mim Maas, who led the kettle effort for the past three years. "Money that is collected in Wadena stays in Wadena."
