Ruth Alvina Chapman, 87, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009, at Fair Oaks Lodge.
Ruth was born Nov. 29, 1922, in Leader, Minn., the daughter of Benedict and Marie (Ellingsdatter) Bendson. In 1942, she was united in marriage to Martin S. Wiebesick. Ten years later, Martin passed away. Ruth was married to Schyler Chapman in 1965. She worked as a seamstress for many years. Ruth enjoyed quilting, dancing, traveling, gardening and Bingo.
A funeral service was held Saturday, Jan. 2 at Swan Valley Lutheran Church in Leader, with the Rev. Mel Nefstead. Interment will be in Poplar Cemetery. Survivors include her children, Stewart (Lisa) Wiebesick, Robert Wiebesick, Roger (Barb) Wiebesick, Alvina (Bob) Morrison, and Jon Chapman; son-in-law, Darrel Johnson; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Martin and Schyler; her parents, Benedict and Marie; her daughter, Geraldine Johnson; and 11 siblings.
