Ruth E. (Beltz) Brandt, 93, passed away Monday, Aug. 3, 2009, at the Elders Home in New York Mills.
She was born on June 24, 1916, in Sleepy Eye, Minn., to Hugo and Mary (Krenz) Beltz. She married Raymond H. Brandt on Jan. 12, 1935, at Redwood Falls. She will be remembered as the friendly cashier, for 17 years, at the Ben Franklin Store in Wadena, after which she became a farm wife until 1986 when they retired from farming. She and her husband farmed at Norcross, where she was active in her church. While living in Wadena she enjoyed Bible study gatherings with her friends. She has been a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Wadena since her retirement. For the last eight years, she lived at Comfort Care Cottage in Wadena, which she considered to be her home.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 8, in the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Wadena with the Rev. Robert Griggs officiating. Pallbearers were Jeffrey Tappe, Joseph Tappe, John Tappe, Andrew Tappe, Corey Brandt and Megan Olson. Interment was in the Wadena Cemetery. Survivors include her son, Clinton (Joan) of Perham; daughter, Barbara (Gary) Shellenberger of Wadena; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and sister, Ethel Ranniger of Golden Valley, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; parents, Hugo and Mary; and brothers, Roland, Armin, Lester and Winfield.
