Rosa L. Johnson, 100, of Staples, died Sunday, July 12, 2009, at Lakewood Health System.
She was born July 27, 1908, in Bemidji, the daughter of Thomas and Rosetta (Beaumont) Wold. After graduating high school in 1926, she taught school for a number of years. She married Clifford Johnson in 1932. She loved her family. She always followed her children's sporting events. She enjoyed Bingo, fishing, reading, crossword puzzles and board games. She also liked to play cards, especially 500 and pinochle. Her fifth-generation grandbabies were very special to her.
Services will be 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 16, at Faith Lutheran Church with the Rev. Stephen Sveom officiating. Visititation will resume one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church. Interment will follow services at Poplar Cemetery in Leader, Minn. There will be a lunch following burial at the Leader Community Hall. Survivors include her daughter, Lucille (Walter) Sowers; her son, Leon (Lona) Johnson; her sisters, Lillian Valenzuela, Betty (John) Sunde, and Barbara (Tom) Mills; her brother, Thomas; 12 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
