Rosa Anna Mills
Rosa Anna Mills, 92, of Wadena, formerly of Central, passed away Dec. 7, 2009, at Fair Oaks Lodge in Wadena.
Rosa was born in White, S.D., on April 11, 1917 to William and Clara (Claussen) Schroeder. Her early years were spent in northwestern Iowa moving with her family to Wadena where she graduated from high school. She completed Normal Training and began teaching in rural schools in Wadena County.
On June 6, 1939, she married Rodney Mills and became a farm wife and mother of four children. After her family was raised, she resumed teaching and earned her college degree. After 13 years she retired from the Wadena Elementary School.
Her retirement years were spent in Arizona until travel wasn't possible. She enjoyed square dancing, socializing and times spent with family. She was a member of the Central United Methodist Church.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Dec. 10, in the Central United Methodist Church in rural Verndale, with the Rev. Charles Horsager officiating. Pallbearers were Rosa's grandchildren, Carman Mills, Cheryl and Wade Marte, Troy Mills, Darren Huebner, and Stacy Peterson. Interment was in the Wadena Cemetery in Wadena. Arrangements were with the Johnson Memorial Home in Wadena (www.johnsonmemorialhome.com).
Survivors include her son, Wayne (Vicky) of Verndale; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Larry Huebner of Staples; and daughter-in-law, Esther Mills of Montivideo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rodney; parents, William and Clara; son, Robert Mills; daughters, Jean Huebner and Rebecca Ensor; a granddaughter; brother, Herman; and sisters, Hilda Erickson and Wilma Crocker.
