Funeral services were held for Ronnie Berndt, age 69 of Wadena, Minnesota on Monday, August 4, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Nazarene in Hewitt, Minnesota, with Pastor Wayne Hoffert and Pastor Charles Chaffin officiating. The hymns were sung by the congregation, accompanied by Janell Brakel. The pallbearers were Virgil Berndt, Wayne Berndt, Douglas Berndt, Gerald Berndt, Steve Sherman and Ed Scepurek. Honorary pallbearers were Melissa Berndt, Arieal Stoecker, Lawerence Oberg III, Lori Oberg, and all of his nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters. Ronnie was laid to rest in Woodman Cemetery in Clarissa, Minnesota.
Ronnie Lee Berndt was born on July 18, 1945 in Bertha, Minnesota. His parents were the late Edwin Walter and Myrtle Iona (Hoosline) Berndt. In Ronnie's younger days he was employed in construction in North Dakota as well as A & G concrete products Little Falls mn. On October 27, 1979 Ronnie was united in marriage to Brenda Lee Anderson at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bertha, Minnesota. Their marriage was blessed with four children. In his later years he was employed with Homecrest and also the Wadena Pioneer Journal in Wadena. On May 11, 2007 Brenda passed away. Ronnie enjoyed playing cards, gambling, visiting with friends, gardening, fishing and dancing. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. On July 29, 2014 Ronnie passed away at 69 years of age. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Preceding Ronnie in death were his parents; brother, Ricky; nephew, Jason Rudrud; brothers-in-law, Leo Yorek & Bruce Wood; sister-in-law, Daisey Berndt.
Ronnie is survived by his daughter, Melissa Berndt of Wadena; sons: Virgil (Cindy) Berndt of Stentensville, WI; Wayne Berndt of Staples; Douglas (Christine) Berndt of Wadena; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brothers: Gary Berndt of Bertha; Merlin (Diane) Berndt of Rice; Gerald (Janice) Berndt of Bertha; Gale Berndt of Long Prairie; Robert (Lynda) Berndt of Hewitt; sisters: Deloris Yorek of Bertha; Iva Tollagson of Dilworth; Linda Rudrud of Brainerd; Debra Berndt of Wadena; Iona Wood of Wadena; Carla Berndt of Wadena; many other relatives and a host of friends.
