A memorial open house will be held for Roger Hosek of Verndale from 4:00 until 8:00 PM on Tuesday evening, May 27, 2014 at the Verndale Alliance Fellowship Hall in Verndale. Private graveside services will be officiated by Fr. Arlie Sowada of St. Fredericks Catholic Church in Verndale. Roger passed away at the age of 84 years on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Tri-County Health Care in Wadena.

Roger was born on January 5, 1930 at Beaver Falls, MN to Frank and Sena (Folkerts) Hosek. He completed country school. In 1951, he joined the United States Air Force and served his country during the Korean War, being honorably discharged in 1955.

Roger was united in marriage with Gertrude Agnes Madges on August 4, 1956 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Minneapolis. Together they made their home in rural Verndale.

Roger was a Ford Tractor and Implement sales manager. He was a member of the Wadena Elks Club, Wadena Pilots Assn., Wadena Chamber of Commerce and the American Legion. He enjoyed flying airplanes, and spending time and fishing with his friends at Quietwoods Resort. He also enjoyed hunting, playing cards, going to the casino, visiting neighbors on his red scooter, and looked forward to spending time visiting with his family and friends. But above all, he enjoyed dancing with his beautiful wife, Gert.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Sena Hosek; and daughter-in-law Brenda (Larson) Hosek.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 57 years, Gert; sons David of White Bear Lake, MN and Bradley of Browerville, MN; daughters Deb (Bill) Hess of Verndale, Carmen of Wadena and Jill (Steve) Davis of Wadena; grandchildren Ryan (Molly) Hess, Michael Hess, Rebecca Hess, Jeremy Hosek, Joshua Hosek, Connor Davis and Carson Davis; great grandchild Jaxon Hess; brother Art of Albuquerque, NM; sisters Rachel (Don) Madges of Randall, MN and Beverly (Ellis) Bramer of Verndale; and many nieces and nephews.

Military Honors will be provided by Elmer Goche Post 3922, Veterans of Foreign Wars at Wadena, MN.

Honorary pallbearers will be Connor Davis, Carson Davis, Ryan Hess and Larry Berg. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Hosek, Joshua Hosek, Michael Hess, Rebecca Hess, Bill Hess and Steve Davis.

Interment will be in the St. Fredericks Catholic Cemetery at Verndale, MN.

Arrangements are with the Schuller Family Funeral Homes in Wadena. (
