Wadena-Deer Creek's robotics team competed in the Lakes Superior Regional Competition, March 8-10 in Duluth.

The WDC Terminators' roster included 11 students led by seniors Dylan Gilster (team captain), Shelby Cullifer and Andrew Lemke. According to Mike Shrode, robotics advisor, the seniors helped the team overcome some rule interpretation challenges and keep them competitive for a final-round selection invitation till the last match on Saturday.

"Overall, the Terminators finished 53rd out of 64 teams according to points but we had one of the best 'bridge balancing' robots at the event," said Shrode.

Second-year competitors Joey Pate and Adam Leverson aided first-year competitors Ashley Tuttle, Josh Lund, Henry Arrigoni, Drew Larson, Nick Torkkola, and Derek Garcia in solving this year's "Rebound Rumble" challenge.

"Thanks again to all the support from our mentors, sponsors and students that helped us get to Duluth this year and look forward to continuing our success going into next year's event," said Shrode.

This is WDC's second year competing in the MSHSL-sanctioned robotics program.
