Robert Dornbusch

Robert Donald Dornbusch, 82, of Perham, passed away July 14, 2009, at the Elders' Home in New York Mills.

He was born June 28, 1927, at home in Corliss Township, rural Perham, to Fred and Flora (Roberts) Dornbusch. He grew up on the family farm and attended District 225 in Corliss Township. From Oct. 25, 1950, to Oct. 6, 1952, he served in the Army. When he returned from the service he worked on various farms in Montana, Elbow Lake and neighboring farms in Corliss Township. In 1960, he joined his brother, Raymond, and continued farming in Corliss Township until retiring in 1989. Even during his retirement, he enjoyed helping on the family farm. He enjoyed spending time and visiting with his nieces, nephews and their families. He also enjoyed duck hunting, deer hunting, fishing, berry picking, gardening, feeding the birds and tending to his cats.

Funeral services were held Friday, July 17, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Corliss Township, rural Perham, with the Rev. Del Meyer officiating. The pallbearers were his nephews: Duane Dornbusch, Donald Dornbusch, Daniel Dornbusch, Randy Dornbusch, Gary Dornbusch and Jaymey Dornbusch. The honorary pallbearers were all of his nieces and nephews. Military honors were provided by Charles D. Center VFW Post 3289 of New York Mills. He was laid to rest in Spruce Grove Union Cemetery, rural Menahga. Arrangements are with the Karvonen & Son Funeral Home of New York Mills (www.karvonenfuneralhome.com).

Survivors include his sister, Donna (Arnold) Knickrehm of Perham; four brothers, Vernon Dornbusch of Fergus Falls, Raymond (Delores) Dornbusch of Perham, Elmer Dornbusch of Plymouth, Lavern (June) Dornbusch of Perham; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives; and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two infant brothers; an infant brother, Eugene; brothers, Harry, Roy and Loren; sister and her husband, Doris and Melvin Ruther.
