Richard "Dick" Rude
Richard "Dick" Anthony Rude, died unexpectedly Feb. 20, 2013 at Gwinnette Medical center in Lawrenceville , GA. with family present.
Dick was born Aug. 13,1938 in Wadena, MN, to Herbert and Lillian Rude where he lived until graduating from Wadena H S.
He joined the Navy and was trained in electronics, the field which he continued to train in and follow in his career.
He worked on the BMEWS project which installed the U.S. Ballistic Missile Early Warning System in Thule, Greenland.
He supervised on the Installation of a communication systems for General Westmoreland in Saigon during the war.
He worked for RCA out of the Cherry Hill, NJ office training and trouble shooting world wide until he married Joyce Cabe of Ga. and had a family.
He then worked for RCA out of the Chicago office within the U. S. He trained, maintained and trouble shot the main frames.
When RCA sold out he moved back to Wadena and worked with his dad at Herbs Repair Service which specialized in automatic transmission and brake work along with regular repairs.
He worked for Itel in Ga. and finally for Hatachi. His Job at Hatachi gave him an office at the Atlanta, Ga. airport where he maintained the mainframe for Delta Airlines until he retired. Dick was very good at his job.
Dick was very family oriented, financially helping sisters with their college, visiting Sharon many times when she was away from home, coming home for all the family affairs, and would not miss a class reunion if it was at all possible to get home. Up to his death he had his two boys living at home with him.
Dick liked golf, cars and even talked about building an Ultra Lite plane(He had the plans but never got around to it)
He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Tilman Rude, grandparents Han's & Tilda Rude and John & Josephine Johnson and his Aunt Alida (Johnson) Dismore, many other aunts and uncles and cousins on the Rude side of the family, one niece and one brother in law.
Dick is survived by His wife, Joyce, of Blueridge, GA and his sons, Terry Ralph and John Manuel Rude of Lawrenceville, GA. , his beloved mother Lillian D Rude, one brother Dennis and Carol Rude of Wadena,MN,
four sisters Janice Stahl, Wadena,MN, Sharon and Manuel Umpierre of Esko, MN, Penny Kay and Bruce Brunsvold of Anchorage , Alaska, and Bobbie and David Robidoux of Milwaukee, WI. Also many loving nephews and nieces and great nephews and nieces and special friend Kip.
A Celebration of Dick's Life will be held in Wadena the weekend of May 11, 2013. There will be a grave side service at 2 PM with the celebration of life following at Humphry Manor in the dining room.
