On behalf of the State REAM Board, the Staples chapter presented the $2,500 check to Lisa Weniger, WDC band director, on Feb. 3 at WDC Elementary.

On hand for the presentation was Tom Honek, Staples REAM president; Marge Evans and Morrie Lundgren, both REAM directors at large; Lisa Weniger, WDC band director; and WDC band students Jonathan Goeden, Britta Moen, AJ Tollefson, Katelyn Windels and Austin Korkowski.

With the support of Honek and Lundgren, Evans made the recommendation for the State REAM donation to be given to WDC's band program. Evans' husband, Mark, served as the band director at Staples school for many years.

Weniger said the donation will be greatly appreciated. Not only did the band program lose items in the tornado, but many of the instruments, cases and music stands recovered from the high school were moldy and rusty.

"We are extremely grateful for the donation from REAM," said Weniger. "The students and I are also appreciative to REAM for thinking of the WDC band program with their generous donation. We can't thank them enough."
