Members of 13 teams took turns walking the course throughout the night. The event raised nearly $29,000 for the American Cancer Society, which spends donations on cancer research as well as lodging and transportation for cancer patients. "It turned out to be a very beautiful day and beautiful night," said Ross Keskitalo, who chaired the event committee with his wife Missy. At a Friday evening ceremony, before the lighting of the luminarias, Mary Krause spoke about caring for a son with cancer and WDC science teacher Craig Klawitter talked about his ongoing battle with brain cancer.
