The rebuilding Wolverines found their offense lacking for the second game in a row as they suffered a Mid-State Conference loss to the Patriots.

Coming off a slow start in their season opener with Long Prairie, the Wolverines, who lost four of their five starters to graduation, were held to just eight first half points by the Patriots. Field goals by Josh Sherman and Isaiah Toedter and free throw points by Ryan Redfield, Ben Birch and Scott Fillhouer accounted for WDC's only first half points. Jordan Reed was held scoreless in the first half.

"The first half score says it all," WDC head coach Tom VanErp said. "Pequot Lakes dominated Wadena-Deer Creek from the tip."

The Pats took advantage of 30 WDC turnovers to score 26 points.

The Patriots were led by 6-7 Tomas Parker and 6-3 Kurtis Moody who scored 12 points apiece. Logan Lange clicked for 11 points from his guard spot. Eleven players figured in the Pequot Lakes attack as the Pats shot deuces at 52 percent and treys at 43 percent.

Sherman led the Wolverines with eight tallies. The Wolverines were just nine of 35 on two-pointers and one of seven on threees.

The Pats held a 32-26 edge on the boards.
