Rangers hand Wolverines 58-27 defeat

The Crosby-Ironton Rangers cruised to a 58-27 victory over the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines Monday night at WDC Elementary.

Shannon Lundgren had a double-double for the Rangers with 17 points and 12 boards. Meredith Silgen and Jamie Nelson canned 11 points each.

Rylie Langer led the Wolverines with seven tallies.

The Wolverines are slated to host Aitkin Friday.

Pequot Lakes lady cagers trounced the Wolverines by a more than a 3 to 1 margin Jan. 14 at the WDC high school gym.

The Patriots were led by Vanessa Lane, who tallied 33 points and went over the 1,000-point scoring plateau for her career.

Jennifer Craig led WDC in scoring with 11 points.

The Wolverines travel to Pequot Lakes for a rematch at 7:15 p.m. Feb. 3.

Despite Hope Theisen's 18 points, the Wadena-Deer Creek girls basketball squad lost a 19-point decision Jan. 10 at Park Rapids.

The Panthers dominated the first half, outscoring the Wolverines 40-19. WDC picked up the pace in the second half, edging Park Rapids 25-23..

Charity Ridlon led Park Rapids with 25 points while Gabie Johnson contributed 15.

With her 11 points, center Jennifer Craig was the only other WDC player besides Theisen to reach double digits. Six other Wolverines netted at least one basket. The Wolverines shot an icy 18 percent from the floor.
