Raiders thrash McGregor/Cromwell 17-4 Friday

Mac Schluttner went 3-for-3, scored twice and drove in three runs Friday as the Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale Raiders pummeled McGregor/Cromwell 17-4 at Mills Field in Brainerd.

The Raiders exploded for nine runs in the fourth and won the game in five innings.

The Raiders had 10 players scoring runs, nine contributing hits and eight chipping in with RBIs. Zach Johnson scored three times for the Raiders. Ethan Korfe and Dillon Card both had two runs and two RBIs.

Eric Blaha went the first three frames to get credit for the win. Blaha gave up only one hit while striking out three. Eckel and Korfe pitched one inning apiece.

Trevor Heagle and Auston Anderson both contributed one hit and one RBI in the loss.

The victory pushed BHV’s season record to 8-1.

Dillon Card and Preston Riewer threw a pair of shutouts Tuesday as the Raiders took two Park Regon Conference game from Menahga.

Card fanned seven and fanned four in Game 1. Anders Tolkkinen’s double broke up Card’s no-hit bid.

Riewer and Mac Schluttner both went 2-for-3 in the win. Mitchell Blaha scored twice.

Riewer scattered three hits, walked one and struck out five in the nightcap.

Eric Blaha went 2-for-3 and scored a run in the win.

Kyle Skoog led the Braves with two hits.
